7 september - 28 October Landscape Festival “L’animale che dunque sono - The animal that therefore I am
The artists selected for the 2024 Edition are: Rä Di Martino, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Claire Fontaine, Liliana Moro, Giulia Piscitelli, Marta Roberti, Sissi and Emilio Vavarella who will present works which explore the meaning of being human in a world increasingly driven by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, for the occasion the artist Jim Lambie presents two special projects: The Psychedelic Sun (2024) and with Gael Lambie the work Axel’s Dream (2024)

A Thrilling Mix of Music in Concert Season of 2024
Friday 28 June at 8 p.m. sees the start of the concert series, Summer Dreams, at Villa San Michele.
The opening evening will be dedicated to cabaret with Lindy Larsson and Bon Bon Band. The series goes on every Friday until August 9, with a mix of classical music, jazz, folk music, opera singers and piano concerts, a varied and partly surprising program for all music tastes.
Swedish Film Goes Capri Returns To Villa San Michele June 6-8
Swedish Film Goes Capri offers a star-studded parterre during the festival organized by the Axel Munthe Foundation. The festival aims at broadening the culture scene on the island and to promote Swedish film, which ultimately has been very successful internationally.
10 September - 5 November “Building new identities - Costruire nuove identità” International Art Festival a Villa San Michele
The seventh edition of the Anacapri international art exhibition Il Festival del Paesaggio is underway: from 10 September to 5 November 2023, the event conceived and curated by Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio returns to animate the evocative spaces of Villa San Michele and various public places in the historic centre of Anacapri.
Humberto and Fernando Campana, Paolo Canevari, Goldschmied & Chiari, Ibrahim Mahama, Matteo Nasini, Elisa Sighicelli, Alberto Tadiello and Andreas Eriksson are among the protagonists.
Swedish Film Goes Capri starts June 21
Villa San Michele's film festival, Swedish Film Goes Capri, will take place from June 21 to 24. The program includes three Swedish films and one Italian, with exciting guests from both countries.
Capri Revisited. Peter Sternäng shows his paintings at Villa San Michele from May 21 to June 3
Starting May 21, the Swedish painter Peter Sternäng will exhibit a choice of aquarelles, woodcuts and iPad-paintings at Villa San Michele in an exhibition called Capri Revisited.
All the works have been created during Peter Sternängs artist residence in the enchanted Villa of Axel Munthe. The view over the bay of Naples at all times and in all different lights, turists on the beach and ferries slowly moving on the sea in the night, all of this inspired the artist to paint.
”The motif became my motive,” as Peter Sternäng expressed it himself in a recent article in the magazine Romhorisont.
Art Show by Isabella Ducrot Opens at Villa San Michele April 6
Villa San Michele inaugurates the cultural season 2023 Thursday April 6 at 6 pm, with an exhibition of the internationally acclaimed Italian artist Isabella Ducrot in the garden pavilion Olivetum. Her series of 12 works called Bella Terra, will be shown until May 14.
The exhibition shows the gradual development of Villa San Michele into a dynamic contemporary cultural institution.
The landscape festival at Villa San Michele
Villa San Michele extends the art exhibition Il Festival del Paesaggio until 16 November. The works of five internationally renowned contemporary artists, including Emilia and Ilya Kabakov and Henrik Håkansson, give the garden and the facade of the Villa a new dimension.

The sixth edition of the Landscape Festival (Festival del Paesaggio), curated by Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio, celebrates the figure of Edwin Cerio on the occasion of the centenary of the "Conference on Landscape" (1922 - 2022), organized on the island in the summer of 1922 by the then mayor. Aria di Capri, That Capri Air, the title chosen for this new edition of the Festival, is also the title of a book published by Cerioin 1927, in which the caprese writer and intellectual imagined the island as a place that got continuously created and recreated by the words and images produced by the writers, poets and artists who have inhabited this extraordinary place.
International Star Inaugurates Concert Season at Villa San Michele
July 1 at 8 pm, Villa San Michele inaugurates its traditional concert series Summerdreams, running every Friday at the same time until August 12. The star of the opening night is Nina Stemme, considered the most important dramatic soprano of out time. Accompanied by pianist Roland Pöntinen she will sing music by Richard Wagner, Kurt Wiell, Jean Sibelius and Wilhelm Stenhammar.
Swedish Film Goes Capri (and so much more...)
Villa San Michele offers an extraordinary culture season this summer - music, literature, art and now film. From June 9 to 11, at 8 pm, three celebrated Swedish films will be shown on the magic terrace in the garden during the festival Swedish Film Goes Capri.
Something new in the sculpture loggia
Villa San Michele opens the season with two new pieces inside the sculpture loggia. A marble bas-relief from 14-17 A.D. now enriches the collection and the original bust of the emperor Tiberius is back on its column.
Music Inside the Museum
For the first time ever, Villa San Michele organizes two concerts inside the museum, Friday September 25 and Saturday September 26 at 7:30 pm, performed by the renowned Swedish chamber music orchestra, Camerata Nordica.
How to change society after the pandemic
Thursday August 20, at 7.30 pm, entrepreneurs and economists meet at Villa San Michele to discuss the Covid 19 crises and the social and economic change in Italy and internationally after the pandemic. The occasion is the launch of the book Il capitalismo buono (The Good Capitalism) by Stefano Cingolani, journalist and writer, in which the author describes the capacity of capitalism to adapt to new circumstances.
Le Conversazioni makes its debut at Villa San Michele
August 19, the international literary festival Le Conversazioni opens this year’s edition at Villa San Michele. During the last 15 years, Le Conversazioni has brought the worlds most famous anglophone authors to Capri.

Andrea Bocelli visits Villa San Michele
After having recently read “The Story of San Michele”, world famous singer Andrea Bocelli decided to visit the home of its author Axel Munthe, Villa San Michele at Capri. The visit ended with a spontaneous private concert.
