International Star Inaugurates Concert Season at Villa San Michele
“Nina Stemme has enchanted audiences in the world's most prestigious opera houses from The Metropolitan to La Scala. We are honored to have her opening our concert season. It shows that even the most important stars of classical music are attracted to the beauty and atmosphere of Villa San Michele and it's amazing audience", says Kristina Kappelin, director.The concert series continues July 8, with the mezzosoprano Ann Hallenberg and the pianist Magnus Svensson, performing music by Georg Friedrich Händel and Joseph Hayden.
July 15 at 8 pm, a female duo will take over the outdoor stage, when soprano Elin Rombo sings music by Scandinavian composers and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with pianist Sharon Rogers.
July 22 Camerata Nordica plays a new work by Swedish composer Tina Andersson, specifically written for and about Villa San Michele and it's founder Axel Munthe. The sextet consists of the violinists Cellerina Park and Hanna Helgegren, the viola players Cédric Robin and Vladimir Percevic and the cellists Sabina Sandri-Olsson and Zéphyrin Rey-Bellet.
Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzolla will be interpreted by Anders Paulsson on soprano saxophone and Jacob Kellermann on guitar, Friday July 29, same time, same place.
August 5 and 12, two appreciated Italian pianists will perform recitals under the stars. Angelo Villari plays a mixed program by Baldassare Galuppi, Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert and Ottorino Respighi. Last but not least, Vittorio Bresciani dedicates his whole concert to Claude Debussy.
