Il Salotto della Sfinge at Villa San Michele: 21–23 August 2025

Talks on cinema, literature, fashion, and art—this year exploring “the twenties,” from the Roaring 1920s to today’s 2020s.
The seventh edition of Il Salotto della Sfinge returns to Villa San Michele in Anacapri from 21 to 23 August. This year’s thread is the twenties: a dialogue between the creative ferment of the 1920s and the questions of our own 2020s—how style, culture, and social freedoms echo and
diverge across a century. The festival opens with the permanent exhibition “Marchesa Casati Installation,” dedicated to Luisa Casati Stampa.

Thursday 21 August, 7:00 p.m. — Vernissage of the permanent exhibition “Marchesa Casati Installation” in the Olivetum pavilion, followed by a conversation with curators Anna Bergman Jurell and Nils Harning and journalist Luciano Garofano.
8:00 p.m. — Actress Violante Placido performs a stage piece inspired by Intervista alla Marchesa, with audience Q&A.;

Friday 22 August, 7:00 p.m. — A talk on style, fashion, and art with Simonetta Gianfelici and Fabriano Fabbri, joined by political scientist Flavia Restivo, tracing links and contrasts between the 1920s and the 2020s.
8:00 p.m. — Readings from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby by actor Davide Iacopini, with Q&A.;

Saturday 23 August, 7:00 p.m. — Closing evening devoted to our twenties: debut filmmakers Edgardo Pistone (Ciao bambino) and Giorgio Caporali (L’Arca) in conversation with actors Marco Adamo, Anastasia Kaletchuk, and Malich Cissé about making their first features and the stories behind them.
