The artists selected for the 2024 Edition are: Rä Di Martino, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Claire Fontaine, Liliana Moro, Giulia Piscitelli, Marta Roberti, Sissi and Emilio Vavarella who will present works which explore the meaning of being human in a world increasingly driven by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, for the occasion the artist Jim Lambie presents two special projects: The Psychedelic Sun (2024) and with Gael Lambie the work Axel’s Dream (2024)

June 6 to 8, Villa San Michele organizes a Swedish film festival. The dramas of youth, romance late in life and "Il dolce far niente" are the themes in the three films in the third edition of Swedish Film Goes Capri.
Come and listen to the young Swedish Netflix stars Felicia Maxime and Edvin Ryding, who will join digitally, and the internationally acclaimed documentary film maker Erik Gandini. From Italy, the successful actress and TV host Chiara Francini, actor Massimo Cagnina (When In Rome) and Noemi Brando, last seen in the Netflix film about Gianna Nannini, will add luster to the evenings.

Art Show by Isabella Ducrot Opens at Villa San Michele April 6,2023


Villa San Michele inaugurates the cultural season 2023 Thursday April 6 at 6 pm, with an exhibition of the internationally acclaimed Italian artist Isabella Ducrot in the garden pavilion Olivetum. Her series of 12 works called Bella Terra, will be shown until May 14.
The exhibition shows the gradual development of Villa San Michele into a dynamic contemporary cultural institution.

Primadonna, the film directed by Marta Savina, is set in Sicily during the 1960s and tells the story of Lia (Claudia Gusmano), a 21-year-old girl. Lia is a very beautiful woman, determined, and reserved. Lorenzo Musicò (Dairo Aita), the son of the town's boss, is immediately captivated by the girl's proud and elusive gaze. However, Lia rejects his advances, provoking the young man's anger, and he decides to forcefully take what has been denied to him. When a reparatory marriage is proposed to Lia, she refuses the wedding and decides to take both Lorenzo and his accomplices to court.
Primadonna was awarded the Premio Visionaire 2023, a price established in 2018 in collaboration with Villa San Michele for a young Italian female film maker.

The novel was first turned into a movie in 1971 by Jan Troell, with Liv Ullman as Kristina and Max von Sydow as Karl Oskar. The new film flips the perspective and tells the dramatic story of an emigrating family from the point of view of the woman, Kristina.

Nina Corradini, former Italian rhythmic gymnastics athlete, shares the story that inspired her book 'Always Smiling,' published by Rizzoli. A denouncement of the pressures and psychological abuse in the world of the national team, called The Butterflies. Marina Sagona is an Italian artist who lives and works in New York since 1995. At Le Conversazioni she presents her book La Commedia della donne, in which her painting of the various female figure of Dante’s Divine Comedy are accompanied by stories written by nine acclaimed American female writers.

Mezzosoprano Ann Hallenberg is well known for her repertoire of older music, particularly Baroque. The film won The Millennial Award 2022, a price given by Le Visionarie, an organization which supports women in film, and Villa San Michele. Corpo a Corpo tells the story of Veronica Yoko Plebani, an Italian paraolympic triathlete who has become a front figure against body shaming in her home country. Vernissage of the exhibit I Am A Woman, by the Swedish photographer Lotta Antonsson in the pavilion of Villa San Michele, Olivetum. Antonsson's collage och photography has both erotic, fashion och documentary connotations, presented in an allegoric and multifaceted limitlessness. Her works are often characterized by spacial formations where photography and objects are combined in an associative whole, with inspiration drawn from the 1960's and 70's.

Following the theme conflict, Italian actors Bianca Nappi and Giandomenico Cupaiuolo read extracts of Dialogue With Refugees by Bertolt Brecht, written in 1940 when Brecht himself was a refugee, and still topical. “The passport is the noblest part of a human being", says one of the protagonists. “… a human being is, in a certain sense, necessary for the passport. Swedish clarinetist Kjell Fagéus creates the musical bridges between the different dialogues.

Directly from Kiev, the musical group Alibi Sisters, well known and loved in their home country, performs a unique concert at Villa San Michele, with the music of the different ethnicities of Ukraine, including Jewish klezmer and the music of the tatars of Crimea.

The sixth edition of the Landscape Festival (Festival del Paesaggio), curated by Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio, celebrates the figure of Edwin Cerio on the occasion of the centenary of the "Conference on Landscape" (1922 - 2022), organized on the island in the summer of 1922 by the then mayor. Aria di Capri, That Capri Air, the title chosen for this new edition of the Festival, is also the title of a book published by Cerio in 1927, in which the caprese writer and intellectual imagined the island as a place that got continuously created and recreated by the words and images produced by the writers, poets and artists who have inhabited this extraordinary place.

Villa San Michele invites everybody to the third edition of the Culture Festival The Salon of the Sfinx. This summer the theme is Freedom and first and foremost the freedom to love. Capri is known as the island of pleasure and many sexually limitless personalities have shaped the cultural life on the island. We pay tribute to this tradition in the name och openness and respect.
The Festival opens with an exhibit by the renowned Bosnian design company Zanat in collaboration with award-winning Swedish designer Monica Förster, ''Carving a Love Story''.

Opening night of the exhibit Carving a Love Story by the Swedish designer Monica Förster. The exhibition is a project developed together with Zanat, the Bosnian design brand, which Monica Förster has been art directing since its international launch in 2015. A design brand founded upon a four-generation-old woodcarving tradition inscribed on the UNESCO cultural heritage list of humanity. This exhibition represents a highlight in the fruitful collaboration, which has helped Zanat rise from a small family-owned workshop in Bosnia to a globally respected design brand.

Drag show with Francesco Pierri, alias Cristina Prenestina. Francesco is one of the most well known artist of the Drag scene of Rome and chose the name Cristina after the gender fluid Swedish queen Kristina (1626-1629).
