Le Conversazioni makes its debut at Villa San Michele
The international literary festival Le Conversazioni opens this year’s edition at Villa San Michele. During the last 15 years, Le Conversazioni has brought the worlds most famous anglophone authors to Capri.This summer only Italian writers participate in the festival due to the pandemic. The opening evening Will take Place at Villa San Michele August 19, with Helena Janeczek. In 2018 she got Italy’s most important literary award Premio Strega, for La ragazza con la Leica (The Girl with the Leica). The book is a novel biography of the war photographer Gerda Taro, who died in battle during the Spanish civil war, 26 years old.
Among the other participating novellists are Melania Mazzucco and Alessandro Piperno, who will meet the audience on Piazzetta Tragara in the town of Capri.
Le Conversazioni was founded by Antonio Monda, who is also the artistic director of the Rome Film Festival, and Davide Azzolini. Throughout the years, the festival has brought som of the most well known anglophone authors to Capri, like Salman Rushdie, Jonathan Franzen, Zadie Smith och Nicole Krauss. Le Conversazioni are also held in Naples, Rome, Palermo and New York.
