Hundreds commemorated Axel Munthe in Anacapri

Villa San Michele (VSM) was built by Axel Munthe (1857-1949) at the turn of the last century, a physician and a writer who, at the time, was one of the most well known Swedes in the world. The property that was donated to the Swedish state after his death, has been and is important, both as a cultural institution and as a turist attraction for Anacapri.
In order to commemorate Munthe 70 years after his death, Villa San Michele and the city of Anacapri, organized a day full of events. VSM wishes to thank the councilor of tourism, Manuela Schiano, and the direction of the highschool IISS Axel Munthe for their kind collaboration.
Presentations by Axel Munthes niece Katriona Munthe and his biographer Bengt Jangfeldt were followed by the awards in a essay contest, conducted by the school, and a theatre performance by Mario Staiano and Natalina Terminiello. The city of Anacapri generously hosted the events at the Centro Multimediale Cacace. The almost 300 participants where too many For Villa San Michele to find room for.
